Hawke’s Bay is one of New Zealand’s great fruit-growing regions, with apples and stone fruit grown across the Heretaunga Plains. The Sunday farmers market at the Tomoana Showgrounds in Hastings is the regional gathering point.
Closer to the orchards you will find producers like Origin Earth cheese and Holly Bacon, plus the Black Barn growers market in season. Back in Ahuriri, the West Quay cafes cover an easy brunch.
